Android Phones Can Now Share Files with iPhone via AirDrop — Supported Device List

Google has successfully made Quick Share on Android phones compatible with Apple AirDrop, allowing Android and iPhone users to share files, photos, and videos directly without third-party apps. This feature is available as of April 2026 on select devices and the supported list keeps growing — according to 9to5Google, this removes one of the biggest barriers for users in mixed ecosystems.

How Does Quick Share Work with AirDrop?

Google and Apple collaborated through an open file-sharing protocol that allows both systems to interact directly. When an Android phone with Quick Share is near an iPhone or Mac, both devices can detect each other and transfer files via direct Wi-Fi — just like AirDrop between Apple devices.

The transfer is fast and does not require an active internet connection. Files remain encrypted during transfer, ensuring data security.

Which Android Phones Support This Feature?

As of April 2026, the list of Android devices supporting AirDrop sharing includes most current flagship phones:

| Brand | Supported Models | |-------|------------------| | Samsung | Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 | | Google | Pixel 10, Pixel 9 series | | Xiaomi | Xiaomi 15 series | | OPPO | Find X9 series | | OnePlus | OnePlus 13 |

This list continues to be updated by Google (per 9to5Google, April 2026). Devices need to run Android 15 or higher with the latest Quick Share update.

What Does This Mean for Malaysian Users?

In Malaysia, many users have family members or colleagues using different systems — some on iPhone, others on Samsung or Xiaomi. Previously, sharing files between platforms required WhatsApp, Telegram, or third-party apps that often compress image quality.

With Quick Share + AirDrop, you can send full-quality photos, 4K videos, and large documents directly from a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB to an iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB (or vice versa) in seconds — no compression, no extra apps.

Does This Mean Android and iPhone Are Now Equal?

In terms of file sharing, yes — the biggest gap between both ecosystems has now been closed. This means you no longer need to choose a phone based on what your friends and family use. Choose based on features, price, and your own needs.
