Samsung has just announced an exciting new feature for Galaxy S25 Ultra owners — Ocean Mode, an underwater camera function that allows users to capture high-quality photos and videos beneath the surface without needing an additional case.
Ocean Mode is an exclusive feature for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra that optimises camera settings specifically for underwater environments. It automatically adjusts white balance to compensate for the dominant blue light beneath the water surface, producing more natural and vibrant colours.
The feature also activates special touch controls that work even when the screen is wet — something that typically causes major issues for most smartphones. Users can press physical buttons to take photos and switch between photo and video modes.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra carries an IP68 rating, meaning it can withstand submersion up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. Samsung recommends using Ocean Mode in clear, shallow water for the best recording results.
For more serious divers, Samsung also offers an official waterproof case that can take the Galaxy S25 Ultra down to 30 metres — making it a practical choice for snorkelling and light scuba diving.
Ocean Mode will be delivered through an over-the-air software update to all Galaxy S25 Ultra owners worldwide, including those in Malaysia. Samsung has not announced an exact date, but it is expected within the coming weeks.
