Samsung Reveals New Design Philosophy β Four Key Categories to Shape Future Galaxy Devices

Mauro Porcini, Samsung President and Chief Design Officer (CDO), has revealed the company new design philosophy in an interview on the Rapid Response podcast with Bob Safian. The approach outlines four key categories β Live Longer, Live Better, Live Loud, and Live On β that will shape future Galaxy devices including the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra (according to Android Authority, 22 April 2026).
What Is Samsung New Design Philosophy?
Samsung now emphasizes human-centered design, where designers serve as the voice of humanity in the organization. Porcini explained that this approach ensures every Samsung product not only functions well technologically, but also delivers meaningful emotional experiences to users.
What Are The Four Design Categories?
Each category has its own distinct focus:
Live Longer β Health monitoring technology supporting physical and mental wellness. Samsung Galaxy Watch and health sensors in Galaxy devices are expected to play a major role.
Live Better β Time-saving technology including AI and productivity tools. Galaxy AI available in the Samsung Galaxy S26 is a prime example.
Live Loud β Self-expression technology for content creation and social media. The advanced 200MP camera in the Galaxy S26 Ultra enables users to express their creativity.
Live On β Memory preservation through photography and videography. Every photo and video captured with Samsung devices becomes a precious record for future generations.
How Is Samsung Implementing This Strategy?
Samsung uses a three-horizon strategic approach. Horizon 1 focuses on incremental improvements to existing products. Horizon 2 identifies opportunities for radical innovation. Horizon 3 defines the future product portfolio β and this is where the four design categories play their most important role (according to Mauro Porcini on the Rapid Response podcast).
This approach is already visible in the cleaner, more minimalist design of the Samsung Galaxy S26 compared to previous generations, as well as in the redesigned Galaxy Buds 4 series that emphasizes comfort and style.
What Does This Mean For Malaysian Users?
For users in Malaysia, this new design approach means future Samsung devices will be more intuitive, more aesthetically pleasing, and more meaningful in daily life. The Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra currently available in the Malaysian market already demonstrate this design direction β with thinner bezels, more harmoniously placed cameras, and a smarter Galaxy AI interface.
