U Mobile ULTRA5G Achieves 82.9% 5G Coverage in Malaysia, Offers Free 7-Day Trial via eSIM

U Mobile announced today that its ULTRA5G network has achieved 82.9% 5G population coverage in Malaysia, surpassing its initial 80% target ahead of schedule. This milestone positions Malaysia among the Southeast Asian nations with the most extensive 5G coverage.
Alongside this achievement, U Mobile has introduced new plans under the ULTRA branding. The ULTRA Prepaid now offers uncapped 5G speeds with no throttling — a departure from previous plans that imposed speed caps of 6Mbps to 24Mbps. The RM50 prepaid plan offers 500GB of data with 2 ULTRA5G Priority passes.
For postpaid users, ULTRA Postpaid offers up to 1,000GB of data with bundled ULTRA5G Priority Pass and ULTRA Security Pro. This gives users priority access to the 5G network plus additional cybersecurity protection.
U Mobile is also offering a free 7-day ULTRA5G network trial via eSIM for new users. Anyone with a 5G and eSIM-capable smartphone can try the U Mobile network without any commitment. Users simply need to sign up to activate the trial eSIM.
U Mobile also becomes the first telco in Malaysia to offer on-demand 5G Network Slicing. This technology allows the network to allocate dedicated bandwidth to specific applications, ensuring consistent performance even when the network is busy. This is especially useful for online gaming, video calls, and live streaming.
With 5G coverage expanding rapidly, owning a 5G smartphone is now more worthwhile than ever. Whether you are using a Samsung Galaxy S26, iPhone 17, or an affordable 5G phone like the Redmi Note 15, you can enjoy much faster internet speeds across most areas in Malaysia. This development also means 5G smartphones will become the standard choice going forward.
